I believe it's just asphalt resurfacing. It was a crummy extension for quite a few years so they've decided to dig it up and re-pave it so it's gonna feel new and smooooooth again. Smiley

As we already know ,Donald Cousens Parkway will be  will be terminated at Steeles Avenue  and then we are at mercy of City of Toronto. The link shows the new alignment as proposed by city of Toronto.  Look at Page 9 for the map .

It's a good thing that it continues into Toronto, right? I have no clue how to think at this moment. :|

If you read through that York region proposed a continuous alignment where the Donald Cousens parkway goes parallel to train tracks and meet at the junction where morning side meets Steeles ( red marked ) . The new proposal as per Toronto is discontinuous alignment where we go south on Donald Cousens meet Steeles and then Steeles will be widened. I see a large traffic in Steeles and sewells road . By diverting traffic to Steeles people will choose to take all alternate routes to reach morning side Ave. I am not sure how long it will take them to extend Morning side to Steeles. But residents at the sewells road can expect more traffic on their streets. The Plan is to have Donad Cousens to meet Steeles by next summer which technically happend ,but a small strip between New Walmart and Box grove bypass where the byepass take a 90 degree turn  has to be completed. .

Some of these projects that were slated for 2010 and 2011 haven't started as yet,  therefore completion is even further away from stated timelines.

I believe once the bus terminal is in place, the condo projects will start.

Some interesting information on schools, library and the hospital from Jan 19th meeting.

I noticed that the Donald Cousens Parkway and 14th Avenue are now open.

The Fire station looks finished with a fire truck inside for the past week. An official opening is likely just weeks away.

The Black Walnut school should open this fall and the Community Centre (spring 2013) and Hospital (end 2013) seem on target for opening. Basically all of the public project are moving forward and on target for completion.

But there is no movement with the large private projects along hwy 7. I am not sure what it will take for them to get going. Very frustrating.

Thanks for the update Steve.

You are right it would be great to see some movement with the other projects. I'm anxiously looking forward to the completion of strip between 9th line and bur oak. Progress is slow in comparison to some other communities in Markham.

The Cornell Secondary Plan was apparently deferred to 2013.

This is the 4th deferral and expected to be the final.
